ICC initiates a SAS 70 type II audit

ICC continually seeks out opportunities to improve and demonstrate the quality of the services delivered to Partner Organizations. ICC adopted the Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) which is the most commonly-used standard for auditing service providers. The achievement of a successful SAS 70 type I audit has required significant time and effort on the part of ICC.

The SAS 70 Type I audit activities were conducted by Deloitte during June and July 2009. That audit demonstrated that the average maturity level of ICC’s controls on the CobiT scale reached 3.11, which is higher than the average industry level of similar entities.

The SAS 70 Type I Auditor’s Report was distributed to the ICC Management Committee members, their supervisors and the auditors of their organizations.

During its 85th session held in March 2010, the ICC Management Committee agreed with ICC’s recommendations to initiate a SAS 70 type II audit exercise.

Type II service auditor reports can be used by the client organizations’ auditors to assess the ability and readiness of the service provider to deliver managed, quality service.

ICC has initiated its SAS 70 type II audit on 1 July 2010 with the help of Deloitte. The audit period is estimated to run for six to seven months.
