Position Description

Purpose of the Position:

The main purpose of the position is to provide UNICC with multimedia and communications support. Objectives include strengthening internal and external communications, supporting brand identity, advocacy and marketing
strategies, strategic partnerships and resource mobilization initiatives. The incumbent is expected to help raising the visibility of UNICC within the UN system, with member states, and with other strategic and prospective partners.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and leadership of the Head,Outreach and Strategic Partnerships (MSO) within the Management and Strategy Division (MS) and under guidance of the Communications Officer. The incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Create high-quality graphic designs and visual assets, ensuring not only consistency but also innovation in alignment with UNICC brand guidelines
  • Generate compelling video and animation content within given timeframes for campaigns, communications and advocacy objectives, employing cutting-edge multimedia techniques to effectively engage targeted audiences. Actively seek out and integrate emerging trends and technologies in multimedia design to maintain relevance and impact
  • Manage and curate an up-to-date UNICC communications library, ensuring a comprehensive repository of compelling visuals to support marketing, outreach and advocacy initiatives. Regularly evaluate and update the library to reflect evolving communication needs and trends
  • Assist the Communications Officer in diverse communication activities, encompassing program management, analytics, reporting, campaigns and news-gathering. Contribute to content creation for UNICC websites and Communications as a Service, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and messaging
  • Provide professional guidance and support to colleagues on visual and multimedia design best practices, furthering a culture of creativity, collaboration and excellence within the organization
  • Ensure effective and timely coordination for inter-organizational communications, fostering increased internal engagement and information exchanges across departments and stakeholders
  • Under guidance of the Communications Officer, oversee the UI/UX design of the UNICC website and assigned projects, ensuring an intuitive and visually appealing user experience that aligns with organizational branding and objectives
  • Responsible for photography and video production for events held at New York duty station or other assigned locations, following the unit guidelines. Maintain a good relationship with focal points from partner organizations to facilitate event coordination and collaboration

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least two (2) years experience in two or more of the following areas:
    o Animation and video expertise at an advanced professional level (with Cap Cut, Final Cut pro, Adobe AfterEffects and Adobe Premiere experience)
    o Advanced graphic design expertise (with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
    o Advanced UI/UX skills (Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma) and working knowledge of W3A Accessibilty Standards
  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
    o Event phography and video shooting
    o Producing communications materials, preferably in international development sector or for IT-related products/services
    o Data visualization and/or infographics
    o Creating content for digital platforms (websites), social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook) and email marketing (Mailchimp)
  • Excellent knowledge of MS 365 tools, SharePoint and WordPress website tools
  • Ability to work independently and to partner with stakeholders across the organisation, including a demonstrated ability to work with technology teams

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the UN system, NGOs or in IT-related organizations
  • Experience managing communications projects in a multi-cultural environment
  • Fundamental understanding of CSS, and ability to deliver designs that are feasible in CSS

Education*:

Essential:

  • First university degree in multimedia, communications, animation, visual design, video production, graphic design, or related areas

Desirable:

  • Advanced university degree in multimedia, communications, animation, visual design, video production, graphic design, or related areas
  • Public policy or international relations educational experience

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • Other language: Begginner knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate):

  • New York, (USA) including post adjustment (88,4% on June 2024): US$ 94,910
